Warm and Gooey Chocolate Cake

This recipe comes together in a snap using ingredients you likely have on hand and just 90 seconds in the microwave. You will need a digital kitchen scale to measure out the items in grams.

  • 25 g quick oats
  • 36 g protein powder (whatever flavor you use will become the flavor of the cake. I used chocolate Promasil)
  • 7 g coconut flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extra
  • 75 g unsweetened apple sauce
  • optional: chocolate chips to sprinkle on top
  1. Mix all ingredients together in a microwavable glass/pyrex/silicone bread pan (approx. 9″ X 5″)
  2. If you’d like to add a few chocolate chips, add them on top now.
  3. Place in microwave and cook for 90 seconds. (microwave times may vary based on models and power of microwave). After cooking, the middle will be gooey – I like to spread this on top of the cake for “icing”. If you prefer yours to be less gooey, try cooking it a bit longer.

Macros for whole pan:

*Protein: 40.1g

*Carbohydrates: 32.8g

*Fats: 8.6g

*These macros are based on using chocolate flavored Promasil. The type of protein powder used may affect these numbers. These macros do not include adding the optional chocolate chips.
