Many people know me as a Fitness Instructor and Nutritional Coach, but what they may not know is that my background also includes a degree in Business in which I majored in Marketing. This probably explains why I LOVE using spreadsheets and how great it feels to develop a nutrition plan for a client where the macros and calories add up perfectly!
However, this also means I am well versed in common marketing gimmicks and tag lines that have one purpose…get someone to buy it!! These gimmicks drive me crazy and particularly in the industry of fitness, health and wellness.
Each year, the market is FLOODED with the latest “lose weight now”, “take off 30 pounds in 2 weeks”, “drink our shake and melt off fat” types of messages.
The truth? That shake, pill or “magic” cookie has no special powers, no magic, and frankly, is not worth your money. I could easily develop a weight loss plan for someone that allowed them to eat a Snickers bar (or any other chocolate bar) daily and they could still lose weight as long as they keep within a caloric deficit and macro breakdown that is specific to them and their goals.
Weight loss and physical change comes from consistency and routine. Routine builds habits, and statistics say it takes 21 days to build habits. So, stick to your plan to bring about the success of your goals. And if you need a hand (without any of the marketing gimmicks) feel free to contact me.
